A number of 129,509 vehicles were sold in August, representing a 63.9 per cent increase from the same period last year, according to data compiled by Toyota Motor Thailand.
The soaring demand pushed the 8-month sale figure to 867,703 units, which showed an increase of 48.6 per cent from the same period last year year. Of total passenger cars showed the 46.6 per cent increase, while commercial vehicles (including 1-tonne pickups) increased by 57.4 per cent.
"All producers in the month increased their production capacity, to quicken delivery process," said Vudhigorn Suriyachantananont, senior vice president, Toyota Motor Thailand Co. "Still, there is a long line of waiting for some models."
He expects growth momentum to continue in September, thanks to continued increase in demand as well as the high number of stocks.
