Canadian virtuoso Robert Aitken is flying in to offer Thailand his magical flute music at Chulalongkorn University's Art Culture Centre.

World-renowned flautist Robert Aitken will give a series of masterclasses and a concert on Oct 12-13 at Chulalongkorn University.

He is visiting on Oct 12-13 as part of the programme titled "Robert Aitken Flute Masterclass and Concert in Thailand 2012".

The world-famous flautist will be joined by Thailand's Voraphol Karnweerayothin, Japanese artist Hiroshi Matsushima, and participants of the upcoming masterclass.

The maestro will also share his mastery with interested flautists from Thailand and beyond in workshops and masterclasses during Oct 12-13, at the auditorium, 6th floor of Chamchuree 9 Building.

The last chance for all young flautists to register is on Sunday, Sept 30.

Registration is open on a first-come-first-served basis as seated are limited. And for music lovers, an evening with Aitkin promises to be an experience. Celebrated worldwide, he was presented in 2003 with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Flute Association (USA) _ the biggest association of its kind in the world.

Aitken regards the legendary Marcel Moyse, who trained him for nine years, as the mentor/teacher who had the most impact on his performance.

As a well-recognised teacher, Aitken taught music at the University of Toronto, the Shawnigan Summer School of Arts, the British Columbia and, most recently, at the Staatliche Hochschule fur Musik in Freiburg, Germany.
