Pattaya slated to be a film city

Since Pattaya has been nominated to become a UNESCO Film City, a meeting was held at Pattaya City Hall to discuss the subject and its potential for the future. The meeting, chaired by Deputy Mayor Ronnakit Ekasingh, discussed laying out a five-year strategic plan to develop Pattaya as a first class international seaside tourist and film industry destination in cooperation with the government. Invited guests and representatives from the world of entertainment had the chance to give their opinions on all related sectors involving local attractions, locations and movie-related facilities in and around the city. In the past, the commercial filming of Pattaya has concentrated mostly on its red-light entertainment facilities, but the diversification of the city – its sports, cultural attractions and diverse international character – have helped enhance the city's media potential.
