The dead and the living reunite in Si Sa Ket, as the northeastern province celebrates the Saen Donta Festival.
Practised among Khmer-speaking communities in Khukhan district, the mysterious festival sets out to appease the deceased members of the family with an array of food, a lot of rice wine, crazy-looking dances and funky Isaan music, and you don't have to die to join the party. This year's festival will take place on October 11-12. Si Sa Ket is about 500 kilometres to Bangkok's East. Call (044) 514 447 or email tatsurin@tat.or.th.
