Written By Unknown on Thursday, 20 September 2012 | 15:15

The bumps first appeared on his skin at the tender age of 19.

Soon, bubble-like tumours began to ravage his body. From dermatologists to skin creams, Chandra Wisnu has tried everything in an attempt to gain some normality in his life.

When nothing worked, he locked himself away from society. Thirty-six years later, with his two oldest children already showing some signs of the disease, the Bubble Man is going public about his painful disfiguration in a race against time to find a cure.

Follow Chandra and his family in this astonishing one-hour documentary as they seek a remedy to the terrible disease that devastates his body and impairs his daily life, and threatens his children with the same genetic fate in The Bubble Man.

Viewers will witness one of the world's leading skin specialists, Dr Anthony Gaspari, and his team answer Chandra's appeals for help and explore his mysterious condition.

Joined by local skin specialist Dr Ruchiatan, Dr Gaspari will tap into years of expertise handling odd and extreme cases of skin diseases in an attempt to help Chandra take his first step to recovery.

The Bubble Man premieres on Sun, Sept 23 at 8pm and encores the same night at 11pm, Sept 24 at 7am and 1pm, and Sept 29 at 10am on Discovery Channel (TrueVisions 20).
