AMC announced the pilot order on November 27, alongside another for Halt Catch Fire, a silicon start-up drama set in the 1980s.
Washington's Spies was written by historian Alexander Rose and had its first run in 2006. For the Turn pilot at least, it's Abraham Woodhull who is given central importance. The Revolutionary War-era spy is portrayed as an ex-farmer driven to recruit a network of covert operatives in the face of stiff opposition from the British forces.
Turn's pilot is to be written by Craig Silverstein, producer on Nikita, Terra Nova and Bones, and produced by Barry Josephson, another Bones exec who was also attached to The Finder, The Tick, and even Tales from the Crypt.
