WeChat messaging service has passed the 300 million register user accounts, it announced Saturday.

The milestone was marked by "Pony Ma, CEO". WeChat was launched on January 21, 2011 and took over a year to reach 100 million users last March and reached 200 million last September.

Most of new accounts came from India and Southeast Asia.

WeChat is now a fasting growing social networking, whose application was developed by Tencent, with more than 300 million user accounts worldwide.

WeChat provides multimedia communication flexibility and convenience with text messaging, hold-to-talk voice messaging, video/voice call, broadcast (one-to-many) messaging, photo/video sharing, location sharing, and contact information exchange.

WeChat also supports social networking via shared streaming content feeds and location-based social plug-ins ('Shake', 'Look Around', and 'Drift Bottle') to chat with and befriend local and international WeChat users.

It's available for iPhone, Android, Windows Phone, BlackBerry and Symbian platforms with multi-languages support.
