Veerachai Plasai, the attorney who is representing Thailand in the Preah Vihear case being heard at the International Court of Justice, reiterated Thursday that there was clear evidence supporting Thailand's claim, which will be presented in the next court session in April.
Citing Cambodia's request for the ICJ to interpret the 1962 verdict, Veerachai said the request had opened the door to a new dispute, which allowed a onesided endorsement for the historic temple to be registered as a World Heritage site. "As a result, the ICJ has no mandate to consider or verify it. Thailand needs to counter the request to avoid disadvantage," he said.
