Peace talks open between Thailand and Muslim rebels

Kuala Lumpur - Thailand and a Muslim rebel group started peace negotiations Thursday aimed at ending nearly a decade of conflict in the country's three southernmost provinces.



Ahmad Zamzamin, a former senior aide of Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, was facilitating the first round of talks in Kuala Lumpur between Thai security officials and representatives of the Barisan Revolusi Nasional rebel group.//DPA
