Metropolitan Police chief Khamronwit Thoopkrajang transferred on Thursday a police officer accused of raping a Laotian woman to an inactive post pending a probe, which could result in his dismissal from the civil service.
The accused, Pol Sub Lt Thatree Seubsaman of Thong Lor Police Station, is still at large after allegedly committing the crime while sidelining as a taxi driver.
Through the media, Khamronwit urged Thatree to surrender and face legal action, which he said would be conducted fairly according to the evidence.
Thatree was earlier accused of picking up the Laotian couple and telling the male passenger to get out midway to their destination, before taking the female to an apartment, where he allegedly handcuffed and raped her.
