Household LPG price to be maintained for another month

The Energy Policy Administrative Committee on Friday resolved to maintain the household LPG gas price for another month to end-June.

Until June, the price would be maintained at Bt18.13 per kg.

Energy Minister Pongsak Ruktapongpisal said after the meeting that the extension will give the authorities some time to prepare for the adverse impacts.

PTT is also assigned to establish a call centre, which will send SMS to low-income households eligible for subsidies. The households will be eligible to buy the cooking gas at the current price. Others will have to shoulder a higher price.

The Oil Fund will bear the subsidy cost, estimated at about Bt100 million.

The gas price for industrial and transport sectors has been raised.
