Readers will be inspired by his efforts in life given Dr. Surin was born and brought up in a poor Muslim family, which had to struggle to make ends meet. When he was at a young age, Dr. Surin wanted to be a sheriff, so that he could commit to improving the lives of the people in the community he was growing up in.
The former permanent secretary has also written another book regarding the ASEAN community, narrating what he did while he was the ASEAN permanent secretary. The book also contains guidelines to and tips on surviving in the ASEAN community. He also expressed his concerns over Thai people's lack of skills in the English and other Asean countries languages, as it is vital to the country's becoming part of the Asean formation.
